Personal Safety Program
Running Term 1 2008
For Young Women (Grade 6 to Year 8 Students only)

It is vital that all young women have at least some knowledge of how to protect themselves in an unpleasant situation. This comprehensive 5 week course will cover various strategies to enhance personal safety including self defence.
This program is exclusively targeted at girls in grade 6 to year 8 with appropriate activities and information.

The program runs for 5 Consecutive Thursdays

Cost: $16 for 5 weeks

The Program Covers:
- Safety on public transport, on the street, at home, on the road and at parties
- Recognising & Preventing Dangerous Situations
- Early Warning Signs and Body Language
- Simple defences against attacks, weapons, holds and grabs (lots of Self Defence techniques)
- Avoiding Sexual Assault (Anti– Rape Techniques)
- Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships
- Partying Safely (including how to make yummy Mocktails)
- First Aid (How to Save a Mate)
- Preventing Bullying & Harassment
- Rights, Responsibilities & Reporting Crimes
- Visits from Services to discover what support is available
- A Free Dinner to celebrate the end of the program
How To Enrol
1. Download the enrolment form or get one from the YRC or at youth programs
2. Complete the form (you will need a parents signature if you are under 18 years old)
3. Come down to the Youth Resource Centre (YRC)- 86 Derrimut Rd Hoppers Crossing
4. Hand in your enrolment form and pay your $16.00.
